Ivory Coast were held to a suprising draw against Burkina Faso in the 3 man group B, to leave them needing a win in their only other game against Ghana to go through to the knockout stages of the 2010 African Cup of Nations.

Resplendent in Orange and White and sporting without doubt the best haircuts of any team in the tournament (seriously – it comes to something when Kolo Toures ‘Kid N Play’ hairstyle is the most sensible on the team) the Ivory Coast dominated possession and should have scored an absolute hatful. Unfortunately for Ivory Coast, Bakari Kone was on the end of almost all of these chances and his wasteful finishing slowly eroded the teams confidence.

Burkino Faso had been beaten in the last 2 meetings between these teams – both in the qualifying stages – and had obviously realised that with only three teams in this group, a point against expected Group leaders could be enough to get them through to the knockout stages. With that in mind Burkina Faso defended with 10 men behind the ball and let the Ivory Coast dominate possession in the middle of the park without really getting anywhere.
